I was previously a VMO at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and Chairperson of the Medical Assessment Tribunal at QCOMP. My qualifications include MBBS (1987), FRACP (1994), Graduate Diploma in Clinical Epidemiology (1998) and a PhD in Medicine (2004). “I graduated from the University of Queensland in 1999 with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Hons Class I). In 2010, I became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians specializing in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. I have completed two fellowship years, one in Sleep Disorders at The Princess Alexandra Hospital in 2010, and the other in Pulmonary Malignancy at The Prince Charles Hospital in 2011. I have presented my research into the association between sleepiness scales and CPAP therapy at national meetings. Aside from sleep medicine, my other research interests include bronchoscopy and early diagnosis of lung cancer.I look forward to assisting you in managing your sleep patients and I am always available to discuss cases.”

 

 

Dr Daniel Smith

“I completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Birmingham, England in 2001. I obtained membership of the Royal College of Physicians, London, in 2005, before migrating to Australia. I completed my Fellowship in Sleep and Respiratory Failure at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane and gained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in early 2010 with recognition as a Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Specialist. I completed a PhD, studying factors which promote persistent Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection in people with cystic fibrosis in 2015. Research I have undertaken on the causes of residual sleepiness post CPAP treatment and on the causes of sleepiness in people with heart failure has been presented at national and international scientific meetings.”

 

 

Dr Suvenesh Prasad

“I completed MBBS in 1997 at the University of the South Pacific. I have been practicing in Australia since 2001 and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2010 in Adult Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. I completed my training with a year of Sleep Disorders Fellowship at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane.
I have been practicing at Greenslopes Private Hospital (where I hold admitting privileges and perform Bronchoscopy) and Greenslopes Specialist Centre since 2011.”

“I am a Respiratory Physician, with a sub-specialist focus in Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and Sleep Medicine and currently practice at The Prince Charles Hospital, Chermside. I completed my Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. I subsequently obtained my Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physician in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. I completed further sub-specialty training in Cystic Fibrosis, and Sleep & Respiratory Failure at The Prince Charles Hospital. I am currently undertaking higher degree research at the University of Queensland and QIMR on cough aerosol and infection in CF. I am fluent in English, Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin) and Malay.”

 

 

Dr James Anderson

“I completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland in 2008. In 2017 I was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, specialising in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine. My Fellowship in Sleep and Respiratory Failure was completed at The Prince Charles Hospital and I currently work at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. I am interested in sleep disorders research and will soon complete a Master of Biostatistics. I have presented research at international scientific meetings and been awarded funding to investigate novel methods of sleep apnoea diagnosis in persons with schizophrenia.”

 

 

Dr Marcus McMahon

“After graduating with a medical degree from Melbourne University in 1995, I chose Sleep and Respiratory Medicine as my specialty, obtaining my Fellowship in 2003. I practice at the Epworth Hospital in Richmond. My expertise lies in the in the management of the broad range of sleep disorders including sleep apnoea and respiratory failure with a strong interest in the diagnosis and management of disorders of excessive daytime sleepiness including narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia, as well as parasomnias and sleep related movement disorders. I also work for the Victorian Respiratory Support Service at the Austin Hospital and am passionate about medical education. I hold a Masters degree in Medical Education and am a former Board member of the Australasian Sleep Association and remain actively involved with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.”

 

 

Dr Dan Henderson

“I completed a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with Honours from the University of Queensland in 2010. I completed my RACP Fellowship in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine training at Logan Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital. Following this, I completed a 24-month fellowship in Sleep and Respiratory Failure at The Prince Charles Hospital.  I currently work as a Sleep and Respiratory Physician at The Mater Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital. I was a member of the Queensland Executive Board of the TSANZ from 2017-2019. I have presented research at national meetings, and in 2018 I was awarded a monetary grant to investigate the link between sleep quality and pulmonary exacerbations of Cystic Fibrosis. My primary ongoing research interests are in the role of sleep in Cystic Fibrosis, and the management of Acute Hypercapnic Respiratory Failure.“
